What, if anything, is not okay to joke about?
Someone else's problems, especially those that are medical and/or that they have no control over. If you want to joke about your own issues, be my guest. But don't try to make light of mine.
Today you will either have the longest day of the year, or the shortest, depending on where you are. What will you do to celebrate the solstice?

Nothing much on my solstice agenda this year. Shovel some snow, watch some television, work until midnight. Yippee.
Today is the official start of the holiday shopping season. Are you planning on doing any shopping today? What are you going to buy?
I didn't plan on it (I DETEST today for shopping), but I bought our Christmas tree today. If I had waited two weeks until my next check like I had planned, it would have cost $10 more. That was enough to encourage me to pick it up today on my way home instead.
While walking in a winter wonderland can be fun in theory, it makes shopping a big of a drag. Do you plan on doing your holiday shopping online or in-stores this season? Why?

I'll be shopping in the stores because I have no way to pay online. I have neither credit nor debit cards. It's not a really big deal though, because our Christmas will be pretty slim and we don't have much to buy anyway.
"Oh, but it's cold outside!" It's a fact of life that the economic climate is a bit chilly this holiday season. Is that affecting how you're doing your holiday shopping?

Not really. I have to leave the house to go to work anyway, so the fact that it's cold outside will not keep me indoors. Besides which, I do not have credit cards so online shopping is not an option for me.
It's Veterans Day! How are you going to honor the veterans today?
I did very little. I meant to call my father, since he is retired from the USMC. Just to say Happy Veteran's Day, if nothing else (I think that yesterday was the birthday of the USMC, and I missed that, too). But I didn't do it. It may be a lousy excuse, but the main reason I didn't is because I am sick. It was enough of a strain on me just to function today. I have had a rough couple of days and finally gave in and bought some NyQuil just so I could get some sleep.
What personality trait has gotten you in the most trouble?
Procrastination. It's been my downfall since elementary school and I'm hoping that some day I'll be better at controlling it.
How do you feel about your birthday? Do you look forward to it and remind all your friends, or do you dread it and try to keep it a secret?
I'm actually rather indifferent to my birthday for the most part. If someone asks, I tell them when it is, but I don't go around announcing it and expecting people to make a big deal out of it. I like to receive cards in the mail from my family, and I expect my husband to plan something nice (even if it's just pizza and a movie at home, I want him to plan it out), but other than that I don't expect any fanfare for my birthday.
The seventh season of "American Idol" premieres tonight. Will you be watching, or are you over it?
I was over it before it even started. I have never watched more than a few minutes of American Idol - I don't see why I should start now.
What's your alma mater?

I attended and graduated from Central Michigan University. Changed my major several times and finally settled on Child Development with an emphasis in Early Childhood. I want to go back to school and get a teaching certificate, but I also would love to have a History or English degree (or both) - because those are my passions.
My husband also got his Bachelor's Degree from CMU, and is currently working on his Master's at CMU. I can't wait until he's finished so he can work and I can go back to school.
Here in Michigan, the school fairly well known, but outside of Michigan most people have never heard of it. Although, it has gotten some press lately thanks to the show "Little People, Big World" since Amy Roloff is an alumnae of CMU and came back to give a speech last spring.
